As the rest of the Australian wine making fraternity fall over themselves to jump onto the bandwagon by releasing yet another shiraz viognier, Gary Farr quietly strolls in the opposite direction. Sure, he still co-ferments his wonderful shiraz with a smidgin of viognier to build colour, texture and aroma, but he doesnt feel the marketing-driven need to proclaim it on the label. Instead, the wine does all the talking. Densly packed with blackcurrent and spice, it's silky but firm, juicy but dry. Give it five years to relax.
